Who are we?
Peter Nijhuis comes from a family of skippers. Sailing is in his blood. Although he initially chose a career as a graphic designer, he has always had the ambition to do something in water sports.
Peter: “I have always been interested in yachts and their maintenance. In 1992 I bought a Doerak with a friend to refurbish and rent out together. I did that in addition to my job at the time. In 1994 I officially started our yacht rental business together with Maaike. In the following years we gradually expanded our fleet”.
During the winter Maaike works part-time in district nursing, but during the sailing season she and Peter are the face of Delos Yachtcharter.
Maaike: “In addition to the charter business, Peter also performs maintenance on private owners’ yachts moored here in the marina.”
Peter and Maaike built the company together from scratch. Peter: “I finished most of the yachts from the hull. Initially these were Doerakken and Roggers, then also Veha cruisers for the more luxurious segment. The Delos 1430 encountered in our rental fleet, for example, I built myself from my own design.”
Delos’ fleet is extremely diverse. The range consists of family yachts, comfort yachts and Luxury yachts, and attracts boating enthusiasts from Europe and beyond. Maaike: “We are located in IJsselstein near Utrecht, in the middle of the Green Heart of the Netherlands. The marina is a so-called Toeristisch Overstap Punt (TOP). Many people leave their cars here and then go cycling or walking in the area. In terms of sailing area, we are between Amsterdam, Gouda and Utrecht. You can make nice boating tours and trips to cities. Depending on how many hours a day you want to sail, you can expand your area and for example also sail to Haarlem and Katwijk. Or just stay in Amsterdam for a few days”.
The Green Heart is a sailing area with something for everyone. Here you can alternate peace and nature with the charms of city life. Maaike: “As of 2021, we have become a Linssen Boating Holiday partner. So customers can also rent a luxury Linssen yacht from us. We also get many customers here who have sailed in Friesland for years. They are really surprised about our sailing area and the beautiful places you pass. The Green Heart is still relatively unknown to water sports enthusiasts”.

A boating vacation in the ‘Green Heart’
Because of the location of our home base at Jachthaven Marnemoende in IJsselstein, there are beautiful routes to sail. A boating vacation in the ‘Green Heart’ means sailing on the Vecht, the Loosdrecht lakes, the Dutch IJssel and the South Holland lakes. A variety of beautiful landscapes with picturesque villages that you can sail right through. Cities such as Leiden, Gouda, Utrecht and Amsterdam are also well worth a visit.

Fully equipped motor yachts
Delos Yachtcharter started in 1994 with the rental of the Doerak. Since then, the fleet has further expanded with the Rogger and the Houseboat. In addition, our flagship, the in-house designed “Delos 1430”, is the pride of our fleet. Customer wishes and experience over the years we have incorporated into the design, layout and equipment of this beautiful and comfortable ship.
All our motor yachts are with cabin, fully equipped up to and including a full kitchen inventory and suitable for longer stays on the water. Due to the diversity of motor yachts, there is always a type that suits your needs and composition of the travel party.
