Who are we?
Peter Nijhuis comes from a family of skippers. Boating is in his blood. Although he initially chose a career as a graphic designer, he has always had the ambition to work in the water sports industry.
Peter: “I’ve always been interested in yachts and their maintenance. In 1992, I bought a Doerak with a friend to refurbish and rent out together. I did that alongside my job at the time. In 1994, Maaike and I officially launched our yacht charter company. In the years that followed, we gradually expanded our fleet.”
During the winter months, Maaike works part-time in district nursing, but during the sailing season she and Peter are the face of Delos Yachtcharter.
Maaike: “As well as running the charter business, Peter also carries out maintenance on yachts belonging to private owners moored here in the marina.”
Peter and Maaike have built the business up from scratch together. Peter: “I’ve finished most of the yachts from the hull up. Initially, these were Doerak and Rogger yachts, and later Veha cruisers for the luxury segment. For example, I built the Delos 1430 in our charter fleet myself, based on my own design.”
Delos’ fleet is exceptionally diverse. It comprises family yachts, comfort yachts and luxury yachts, attracting boating enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond. Maaike: “We’re based in IJsselstein near Utrecht, right in the heart of the Green Heart of the Netherlands. The marina is a so-called Tourist Transfer Point (TOP). Many people leave their cars here and then enjoy cycling or walking in the surrounding area. In terms of sailing area, we’re situated between Amsterdam, Gouda and Utrecht. You can go on lovely sailing trips here and take day trips to cities. Depending on how many hours a day you want to sail, you can expand your area and, for example, sail to Haarlem and Katwijk. Or simply stay moored in Amsterdam for a few days.”
The Green Heart is a sailing area with something for everyone. Here, you can alternate peace and nature with the charms of city life. Maaike: “We became a Linssen Boating Holiday partner in 2021. So customers can also hire a luxury Linssen yacht from us. We also get a lot of customers here who have been sailing in Friesland for years. They’re genuinely amazed by our sailing area and the beautiful spots you pass by. The Green Heart is still relatively unknown among water sports enthusiasts.”

A boating holiday in the ‘Green Heart’
Thanks to our home base at Marnemoende Marina in IJsselstein, there are some wonderful routes to explore. A boating holiday in the ‘Green Heart’ means sailing on the Vecht, the Loosdrecht Lakes, the Hollandse IJssel and the South Holland Lakes. A variety of stunning landscapes with picturesque villages that you can sail right through. Cities such as Leiden, Gouda, Utrecht and Amsterdam are also well worth a visit.

Er is echter nog steeds ruimte voor verbetering als het gaat om bootuitrusting.
De dagen op uw “IJsvogel” waren echt een bijzondere ervaring. Uw vriendelijke ontvangst, uw te allen tijde beschikbaarheid voor kleine problemen en de probleemloze afhandeling hebben hier in grote mate aan bijgedragen. Ondanks de ongunstige weersomstandigheden voelden we ons absoluut op ons gemak op het jacht.
Wij zouden op elk moment weer een jacht van u charteren. Bedankt voor. Alles!

Ik heb de dienst meerdere malen gebruikt en kan zeggen dat deze al lange tijd op hoog niveau staat bij dit bedrijf. Diensten, bereidheid en een perfect geprepareerd schip.
De Sir Ernest Shackleton is een uitstekend schip en het was een heerlijke week.

Het hele boekingsproces, inclusief de betaling, verliep eenvoudig en soepel. E-mails werden snel beantwoord.
De ontvangst in IJsselstein was hartelijk en ook het ophalen en terugbrengen van de boot verliep geheel probleemloos.
Op basis van onze uitgebreide en tientallen jaren lange ervaring in het charteren van zeil- en motorjachten in Europa en de VS, geven wij Delos vijf sterren en bevelen het bedrijf van harte aan.
De Cardhu is een geweldig klein, perfect uitgerust schip voor 2 personen. Een klasse apart.
We komen zeker graag terug om de grotere tour te doen die we oorspronkelijk hadden gepland.

Delos Yachtcharter began in 1994 with the charter of the Doerak. Since then, the fleet has expanded to include the Rogger and the Houseboat. In addition, our flagship, the in-house designed “Delos 1430”, is the pride of our fleet. We have incorporated customer feedback and experience gained over the years into the design, layout and fittings of this beautiful and comfortable vessel.
